Suggest Treatment For Persistent Cough, Pink Eye And Fever

My 5 year old son has been coughing for 5 weeks. I took him to the doctor twice once for his cough and then 2 weeks ago he got pink eye, so we took him in then. Both doctors listened to his lungs and said they were clear. But one DR. told me that he should maybe get his tonsil removed because they were on the large size. The other DR. said the same that they were large. Should I do this? I have an appt with a ENT specialist in January. Also his cough seems to be worse when he runs around or if he raises his voice at his little brothers. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Also my 2 1/2 year old has been having the same cough for 2 weeks. He has coughed up foam looking stuff this morning. He also has a slight fever around 99.2 to 100.2. What do you think about this too? Thanks!
