hI, I am a 67 year old woman. I was told many years ago by a Rheumatologist that I had Fibromyalgia. I believe at that time it was just emerging as a noted condition as a result of some sleep studies that had been done. Anyway, I have off and on had localised Aches and Pains for no know reason which I have just attributed to being Fibromyalgia. Have never had any medication prescribed and have alway thought from anything I had read that MY Fibromyalgia was fairly mild and only flared occasionally and I just accepted that. I I am now in a situation where I quite often get flu-like symptons which are quite debitilitating and can cause me pain and tiredness for several weeks at a time. Dr can find nothing specific wrong and I get offered the virus answer, but am getting pretty tired of that. Have had an episode some years ago where I was OD ing on paid killers as a result of 24/7 headaches and having got past that dont want to go back to taking pain killers all the time, but find that I am needing to take them regularly to cope day to day. Noting has ever been said about Fibromyalgia being in any way the cause of this cycle and I am wondering if it is possible that it is, and also if there is any medication that can control it? Perhaps I should add that I had been diagnosed as having mid range sleep apnoea, and I struggle with the memory?concentration loss as per one of the described signs on this site. I have not used my CPAP machine for a couple of years (I struggled with it) and I am sleeping better now than when I was on the machine although still far from full nights sleep
