Suggest Treatment For Radiating Pain In The Groin Area

My husband is 55 years old and has been complaining for pain in his groin and going down to his right leg. It started a few months ago, but now the pain has been so excruciating that he has not been able to sleep for two days. My husband goes to the gym everyday, lifts weights of around 225 lbs and he plays basketball every Sunday. However, he eats a lot of junk and today his blood pressure was at 172 over 113. At first one doctor thought he might have a hernia. He was referred to a specialist and had an ultrasound, but it did not reveal any specific bulge. Now he has to have a CT scan. What could this be?
