Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Lichen Sclerosus

My doctor says I do not have a yeast infection. He says it is lichen something. (my notes are out in the car). Why will not a fungicide work on this? He prescribed clobetasol, and says there is no cure for this. I am 74 years old and have had this for about a year.
