Suggest Treatment For Recurring Tonsillitis

Hi, I've been dealing with recurring tonsilitis for a few years now which started after a bout with mono. Are there any other treatment options besides having my tonsils taken out? Which I just don't have the money for. But it's exhausting to be sick all the time, and paying for antibiotics every month or so and dr. visits isn't cheap either. Anything alternative?
