Suggest Treatment For Red Color Bruises On The Ankle

My achilles tendon ruptured 3 years ago and a few months after I came out of plaster I had my knee operated on. I have been left with a red bruised looking mark on my ankle that flares and becomes worse at times and recedes at others, in the last few months it seems to be spreading down my foot towards the arch of my foot. what is this?
