Suggest Treatment For Runny Nose And Cough

I have had a runny nose for the past month. Thought it was allergies, so took my allergy meds - nasonex spray and loratadine tablets but that did not work. Took Nyquil and Dayquil for a short time a few weeks ago to see if that would relieve some symptoms - it did for a couple of days. Thought my short cold was over so I stopped using the liquid Nyquil and Dayquil. A couple of weeks since, my whole upper respiratory was infected. It has been 10 days now. Symptoms last week were: constantly sneezing and blowing my nose - clear liquid, watery eyes, nasal congestion, sinuses inflamed. Appetite is good and never had a fever with this. It went down to my chest and I have a dry cough without producing much mucous. Last week I have used:Alka-Seltzer plus effervescent tablets and alternating with a nasal decongestant PE. Used saline spray for the nostrils which helped some with breathing. The cough has been on an off for 6 days now and there is some discomfort in my chest from the coughing. Do I continue with what I have been doing and let the cold ride out on its own?
