Suggest Treatment For Separated Toe Nail After An Injury

Hi, I accidently smashed my big toe under a pool table about a month ago. You could clearly see the blood pooling under the nail, but there was no skin opening for the blood to flow off. My toe now seems to be healed, but my toe nail now appears to be separated from the nail bed (from the middle of my toe moving laterally. I can pull the skin away from the nail at the cuticle line. Should I be worried of an infection, or should I leave it alone?
