Suggest Treatment For Severe Ear Pain

I was having heavy left ear pain,i have gone to doctor,he told it is blocked with wax,he have suggested to put soliwax ear drop for 5 days .Now pain is not there,but sometimes itching is there inside.i have tried to take wax outside using earbud,but only a little sticky type was there. I thought soliwax will dissolve the wax,and it will come out.but it wouldn't.why doctor.
