Suggest Treatment For Severe Hiccups Along With Redness On Face

My husband had same day surgery @ 2:30 yesterday aft - he had a lot of nausea following plus lots of deep belching. Since early morning today he has had awful hiccups & his whole face is flushed red. We have tried several ideas from a med web site to stop them but nothing has helped. He is 71 yrs old & has never had an anesthetic before . What do you recommend to get rid of the hiccups which are deep?
