Suggest Treatment For Severe Hip Pain

my brother aged 45,Diabetic. When he travelled in a Govt.Bus, sitting in the last seat, the bus approached a speed braker the Driver never cared about the speed braker drove the bus in 80 kmp. the reslut is my brother was thrown with in the bus for one meter hight. owing to that he had a severe pain in the back side of the hip. we consulted the ortho and a x Ray was taken. the xray shows stable fracture in L4. the Dr.advised bed rest for 3 weeks. Is it enough for him or any other thing we have to do?. No swelling. When he lying inthe bed no pain. If he wants to stand he is having pain moderately.
