Suggest Treatment For Severe Swelling And Pain In Legs

I'm a 42 year old female. I have approximately a 10-12 year history of cellulitis in my lower legs. It just developed again so I went to my doctor yesterday. My lower legs are about twice normal size due to inflammation. I am unable to elevate my legs due to severe sensitivity on the calves. They have never been this swollen in the past.

My doctor prescribed a two week regimen of Keflex and Tetracycline.

Last night, I literally did not sleep due to severe pain in both legs, which I believe to be the nerves being irritated by the severe swelling. The pain is only in certain spots (it is shocking pain like lightning bolts, but is constant) and it has me almost constantly crying.

I contacted my doctor today and he prescribed Vicodin for the pain. Is Vicodin sufficient for nerve pain or the type of pain I'm experiencing? I haven't taken this medication in over 20 years (for wisdom teeth removal), and it did not decrease my level of pain even then.

Thank you
