Suggest Treatment For Skin Tear Infection

Age 59, 5'1",female,very fair skinned-big freckles, red hair. Healthy - except high blood pressure, high cholesterol,menopausal. Prone to skin problems. I have several skin tears on my arms & hands from working in my flowerbeds. One of them on the top of my hand is infected now. What should I do? I have been washing,washing it & using an antibiotic ointment.
