Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat And Dry Cough

I had a slight sore throat, dry cough and head congestion starting Monday, 2/17, that after rest, Zicam tabs & Robitussin CM/DM, finally went away today, but my boyfriend now has it with more of a cough, sore throat and 100.9 temperature. Should I take him to urgent care or let him sleep it off?
