Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat And Ear Ache

I have had a sore throat for a year. It has probably gone away for short periods of time over the past year but essentially I have had a constantly slightly sore throat, it all started after I had a really bad flu in August 2009. In the past 5-6 months I have also started getting sore ears, specially my left ear. It comes and goes and seems to be worse at night time (really hurts if I sleep on the left side..). Feel generally tired as well, though I study law so I'm probably just sleep deprived. I hate going to doctors and after also spending the last 18 months with bad headaches (seems like my vision has just deteriorated a lot and I needed glasses full-time rather than just for reading) I'm starting to feel like a crazy person and don't want to go and with another complaint to my doctor... Really feel like I am going insane.
