Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat

I have an extremely sore throat extending to my lower trachea, not just tonsils area. its Saturday so I can't get a doctors appt until Monday and really need to be able to go to work by then. I was in Turkey in August and was given some Biteral, which I understand is a general anti biotic - I have some left - will this erve as a substitute for an anti biotic until i can get an appt with my doctor?
