Suggest Treatment For Stage 4 MS

My sister has MS and today she was told that her's is now Stage 4. Her doctor told her that her spine will need to have a procedure that calls for having needles put in her spine to stop the the pain. I may not have the right terminology for this procedure. Her legs are shaky now and she is not doing very well. Can you please explain and approx. how long will she live ?
