Suggest Treatment For Stroke And Memory Loss

My husband was hospitalized for a stroke last week, but also had short-term memory loss for several months prior to this. Could not having taken his insulin, high blood pressure rxs and other RXs for over one year, which caused physical problems also cause the cognitive deficits? Also is it possible for these symptoms to reverse? I have a Master's in Counseling, but am not knowledgeable re: strokes. Thanks, Eileen Fair, MS.Ed.
