Suggest Treatment For Swelling In The Throat

my throat is very swollen on the right side only and it is white and red the dangly thing is stuck to the right side of my throat it feel hard as a rock. I talked to my doctor this am and he phoned a perscription in, its co-levofloxacin 500mg 1 tablet a day. I did not see the doctor he just ordered something by me telling him how I felt. It is also worked its way to my right ear and it is constent excrshiateing pain. Should I go to emergency or wait to see if this med helps.
