Suggest Treatment For Swelling On Legs From Water Retention

I recently had swelling on my legs from water retention that was diagnosed and am going through with treatment now. But when my leg swelled, a couple year old scar started to bleed. It was a deep scar from a knee surgery. Should I be concerned or is it natural for an old scar that is stretched to bleed?
