Suggest Treatment For Swelling On Thumb And Hand After Dog Bite

I picked up a friendly dog I know but he panicked and bit my thumb and top on the hand, I let it bleed a bit then washed with bacteria soap. I soaked in ebson salt water and then iced them . I had a tetnus shot 18 months ago. The dog has rabie shots and normally sweet but I did grab his collar scaring him. My hand is in a lot of pain as well as my thumb, I am putting tripple bacterial cream on it and taking penacillin(sp). My thumb and hand it mild red warn and swollen. I was bit yesterday , any other suggestions as I have no insurance. Is swelling normal, he did bite me pretty hard.
