Suggest Treatment For Tenderness After Dissolved Stitches On Lips

I had desolving stitches placed in my bottom lip of my mouth over two weeks ago for I had a vein of all things to burst on my lip. The Doctor had to suchur this to get it to quit bleeding so badly, I was told to keep Vaseline on this area which I have, but the stitches has been in over two weeks now should they have already desoved by now? it's making my lip very tender and sore. Please help.
