Suggest Treatment For Tightness In Chest And Wheezing

I quit smoking 2 weeks ago, now I have breathing problems tightness, bad wheezing which is very scary now I am crying thinking I am going to stop breathing and cant sleep thinking I will not wake up! went to the doc yesterday she gave me an inhaler, been on antibiotics for a week but did nothing, she prescribed me more antibiotics and prednisone. Will the asthma eventually go or do I have that forever now? also I had phnemonia twice 3 years ago for 6 weeks at a time within 6 months apart (I gave up smoking then with no issues like I have now, but after 8 months stupidly went back to smoking. I am 43 and been smoking since I was 16. Any help would be appreciated.
