Suggest Treatment For Tonsillitis

I have tonsillitis, went to the doctor Friday and found out. When I went I only had the white patches on one side and the other was inflammed. I started taking the antibiotic as soon as I left there and got it filled. Now the white patches are on the others sides too and the first side that had them looks like one big patch now (looks worse). Is it susposed to do that? Is that how the meds work? Also, I've been sick to my stomach every night and morning almost.
