Suggest Treatment For Torn Meniscus

My son has torn the meniscus for the 2nd time within 6 months. With the first tear, he had a Meniscectomy, rehab for 4 weeks, then eased back into activity (which happened to be the start of his high school basketball season). Fast forward to mid-March, after taking off 4 additional weeks mid-season, and it seemed there was consistent soreness with slight pain. Another MRI was performed & the results are another tear, same location, same knee. Is it possible the meniscus was not repaired properly the first time around? Is it normal to have a second tear so soon?
