Suggest Treatment For Vaginal Itching Caused After Applying Monistat

I am 49, 5'2", 190 lb female. I am scheduled to have a D & C next week for fibroids. I have a rash covering most of my groin. Yesterday my gynecologist ( who will not be available until Monday) said it is probably a yeast infection and to use Monistat. I applied it 4 times in last 24 hours. After the third time, the burning and itching was much worse and I developed swelling in the area. Should I stop using the Monistat or tough it out?
