Suggest Ways To Lower Creatinine Levels

my creatinine level is 1.6 .How can I lower it? I am diabetic and I have been taking metformin , my Dr. Stopped me from taking it. my sugar is runing very high without the metformin .I have increased my insulin a lot but it is still high.Is there another medicine that I can take.
