Thanks for being available to answer my question........ back in 1990 (I'm 61 now) I had exploratory abdominal surgery, looking for affected lymph nodes as a result of a diagnosis of Hodgkins lymphoma. Several things were biopsied and my spleen removed. Following that I had a series of radiation treatments (no chemo) to my upper chest, neck and jaw area (five weeks), then four weeks of treatments in my central abdomen area. About 10 years ago I began having abdominal cramps. I had a series of tests which all showed nothing. On to a gastroenterologist who sent me for a CT enterography.... which also showed nothing. He (the gastro doc) said he suspected scar tissue from my suture line and sent me for a consultation with a general surgeon. The general surgeon said that, because of the radiation he was very reluctant to perform surgery in that area because of the potential for complications. He pretty much said that I might be better off with the disabling cramps that I've been suffering with than to risk surgery. I asked if he thought I could continue living without something rupturing inside and REALLY causing a life-threatening issue.... and he said yes. I'm 5'9", 160lbs, otherwise in good health.......... did I get the best advice or should I seek another opinion (which I guess I'm pretty much doing here)? These disabling cramps that leave me worthless for a day at a time are happening every few weeks. I wanted some possibility of a resolution, but at this point I have no direction for what that'd be. Thanks again for reading, and offering whatever advice you might have.
