The 1st Time I Slept With My Recent Partner Was

The 1st time I slept with my recent partner was a year and a half ago. The next day he had a burning sensation on the head of his penis that laated a few days. We slept together again 10 days ago for the 1st time since and a few days later got the burning again. I had a recent pap & want told anything was wrong. I had the HPV virus about 2 years ago but there is no signs of warts on either of us. I have read it could be from a yeast infection or other reasons. Should he be freaking out?
