The Bottom Side Of My Left Big Toe Feels Like

The bottom side of my left big toe feels like there is a splinter there, but I cannot see it. It is very tender to the touch and I cannot put too much pressure on it. It is quite painful. Perhaps I scratched it? But, I don't see anything. I have put neosporin, A&D for the last few days. I recall, walking on carpet in our house and then all of a sudden feeling like I stepped on a splinter on Friday night. Should I go see my doctor?
