The Large Toe On My Right Foot Has Been Bleeding

The large toe on my right foot has been bleeding on and off for a few weeks. I have no idea what is causing it and there has not been any pain at all. Recently, the toe has been bleeding almost every day and just doesn't seem to be healing. I went to my general practitioner and she gave me anti-biotic cream and told me that I must be re-injuring it. However, I think there could be something more going on and am hoping for a 2nd opinion.
