The Large Vein In The Top Of My Right Hand

The large vein in the top of my right hand closest to my thumb stings when pressed; only the vein, not the skin around it. I always have large visible veins on both hands. I am a 57 year old female and I have Sjogrens. Is the stinging anything I need to have checked by a doctor?
