Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
The other day I had a CT scan of my abdomen and pelvis repeated with and without contrast material, which was not necessary. In 2011 and 2012 I had a total of three CT scans due to kidney stones. I also had one CT scan in 1978 and a milagram in 1978. I am very very concerned that I will without question end up with cancer due to the CT scan the other day [with all the others in grand total]. I had no one to intervene the other day, but I should not have been given the CT scan. Never-the-less, I am now very upset at what happened and I feel that I will be hurt from this in the long run from this. Is my concern warranted. Am I at high risk for cancer now. I went to radiologyinfo.org and it says for my CT scan the other day that I am at moderate risk, which sounds terrible because I also had the three CT scans in 2011-2012. I am very worried about what I am reading online. I need some solid pep talk and not just "you'll be ok, don't worry".
