The Right Side Of My Throat/back Of Mouth, And Right

The right side of my throat/back of mouth, and right ear have been causing me pain for 6 days. After the second day of unbearable pain i went to the doctors assuming it was strep throat because my right tonsil was swollen and I had a white spot on my soft palate right before my tonsil. The doctor told me i have white spots in my ear causing the ear pain. The test for strep came back negative but they said to take amoxicilin anyway for 10 days twice a day and they are 875's. It is my 4th day taking medicine and I am not seeing or feeling any improvement. I
The redness in my throat faded a little but the white spot (which looks like a canker sore) seems to be getting bigger and whiter and my ear hurts just as much. Any idea of what this condition could be or how I can treat it?
