This Is My First Abcess And The Dentist Put Me

This is my first abcess and the dentist put me on Amoxicillin 500 and Hydrocodone/acetaminophen 5-325. It has been 2 days and I am in pain and the pain meds just make me sleep. Should I go back before my appointment 04/30/2015. What could I do to ease the pain. I do not see an abcess leson Just a swollen jaw with headaches and sore gums
