Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Three months ago I had a hip replacement. I am fully recovered and doing fine. However, I am falling asleep very often when I sit down. I feel tired all the time. I just do not have the energy I had.
This was my first major surgery. It was the third or fourth time in my life I had been fully anesthized. I had carpel tunnel surgery last year and a colonoscopy years back. Each time I had trouble waking up. Nothing dramatic but after the hip surgery it took more than 3 hours for the doctor to arouse me enough in recovery to move me to my room. I don't know if this is significant but I am wondering if this can be contributing to my continuing tiredness and falling asleep during the day. I know I am aging but I am an active person and this is a recent occurrence since this surgery. If this is a possibility, will it just "wear off" as time passes or should I see a physician?
