Today I Got A Permanent Retainer Put Behind My Bottom

Today I got a permanent retainer put behind my bottom front teeth. When the assistant put the first gel (etch) on my teeth I think some got on the corner of my lip bc I felt a burning but ignored it. Until after my retainer was put in I looked in the mirror and noticed my lip in that corner was swollen and now it is yellow looking and swollen with throbbing. Will this go away? What do I need to do?
