Today I Noticed A Band About 1/4 Inch Wide And

Today I noticed a band about 1/4 inch wide and an inch long of what appear to be broken blood vessels running across the back roof of my mouth. In front of that on both sides of the ridge of my palate, the skin looks a dull yellowish color--almost like there is something yellow under my skin. I had a dentist appointment today and he said if it's not gone in 2 weeks to make an appt to see him again. 4 days ago, I became unusually and severely car sick and violently vomited to the point of dry heaves. My dentist thought this could possibly be the cause but had a quizzical look on his face and took his assistant aside to speak to her quietly apparently so I couldn't hear the conversation--this made me nervous. any thoughts on what this could be?
