Today At Work There Was A Large Odor Of Burnt

Today at work there was a large odor of burnt plastic in the terminal. I have COPD and my breathing got very bad until I left the building. I was told it was one of the big lights that burnt out. Is there any danger in this sort of thing to someone with breathing problems.
