Two Or Three Times A Year I Get A Flash

Two or three times a year I get a flash of pain on the top of my head.it feels as if it could be a ingrown hair or something related to my hair follicles .it is a brief throbbing pain that is intermittent for several days to a week and then goes away.any ideas what this could be.
