Two Weeks Ago My Dentist Put A Temporary Cap On

Two weeks ago my dentist put a temporary cap on a tooth after drilling for what seemed hours. I still have some tooth pain but I've been experiencing awful night sweats since this happened. Could the night sweats be an infection in the tooth? At the time he saw me (almost two weeks ago) he said there was no sign of infection but now I wonder if there might be an infection. Thank you.
