Was Talking To My Daughter About Her Mother And She

Was talking to my daughter about her mother and she described the following symptoms:
Severe iron deficiency
Significant bleeding, requiring 5 units of blood via transfusion in 2014. Unable to determine source, but blood count (white) is very low.
Increasing frequency of headaches (migraines occurring 1-2 times)
Pale skin
Increasing weakness
Lack of appetite
Significant (unintentional) weight loss over the past year

She has been referred to a hematologist. What might these symptoms indicate? She indicated that her mother has been talking a lot about leukemia lately and her mother died from cancer some years ago. She also said that "she doesn't like that word (cancer)" and doesn't want to talk about it.
