We Have Recently Acquired A Male Desexed Cat.After A Few

We have recently acquired a male desexed cat.After a few weeks I find I have constant discomfort on my face almost like the feeling of fine hairs irritating it .My eyes are more uncomfortable I have dry eyes anyway and my nose is running a lot.I recently had an unexplained rash on my chest ,cured by antihistamine.Is this likely to be a cat allergy?I am in my 80 s and have had cats years ago but this one is very affectionate and gets handled often.
