Well I'm Type Two Diabetic, And Taking 500mg Metformin. Two

Well I'm type two diabetic, and taking 500mg metformin. Two days ago my ankles started swelling and rednes and sore I'm getting worried, I'm away on holiday in Thailand at the moment as my wife is Thai.medical centers just seem to give tablets that are nothing to do with the problems. Not sure if its my diabetes.
