What Anesthetic Is Better When Getting Mirena Coil Fitted For Heavy Bleeding?

Hi, i am having the mirena coil fitted to stop heavy periods. when the consultant went to fit it she said she had trouble as my cervix wasnt dialated enough. She suggested an anaesthetic to have it fitted but i dont know whether to go for a local or general anaesthetic. The local sound horrible with injections in the cervix and after effects with breathing etc. The general is better in that you are out and wont be awake and anxious but carries more risk. which would you advise?
