What Are Adverse Effects Of Partial Removal Of Ribs Along With Bronchogenic Carcinoma?

my sister-in-law is having surgery to remove a bronchogenic carcinoma mas from the upper lobe of her right lung. The thoracic surgeon has said he will remove the entire upper right lobe and 3 ribs will also be removed. what are the effects of rib removal? Will this make her more vulnerable to injury to her right thoracic area ?
