What Are The Chances Of Being Pregnant If Taken Pill After Sex?

Hey, I had sex for the first time five days ago. The condom slipped off on the bed after he pulled out. I took next choice the next day . Today which is five days later I took 2 pregnancy tests that came back negative. What are my chances in being pregnant?

Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
You cannot take a pregnancy test 5 days after unprotected sex !
A pregnancy would never show up that early on.
To take a pregnancy test, you need to be overdue and to have missed your normal menstrual cycle.
Otherwise, you need to take it atleast 2 weeks after having had unprotected sex.
Emergency contraceptive pills are more than 95 % effective when taken within 24 hours of unprotected sex.
So you are reasonably well protected against pregnancy.
Do not worry.
ALso the condom had slipped out after penetration , so that further reduces your chances of getting pregnant.
Just to be sure , take a test after 3 weeks if you do not have your normal periods by then.
ALso, make sure sex is always protected.
All the best.
Take care.

Hi,
Firstly, you can conceive only if intercourse occurs during the fertile days. Secondly, you are amply protected as you have taken the emergency contraception within the stipulated time interval. Thirdly, you can get a positive urine pregnancy test only three weeks after conception, not so early. So, in the current scenario, you should wait until your next expected period and if you do not see it even after 10 days after it is due, see a specialist for further help. Hope this information is useful for you. Take care.
