What Are The Side Effects Of Prednisone?

My boyfriend was given prednisone for back pain last week, and now he has become very mean toward me. He started taking it on Wednesday, 4 pills for 3 days, then starting Saturday, 3 pills 3 days. He will be starting 1 pill 3 days today. Will this effect last long?
