What Are The Side Effects Of Contraceptive Implant?

I have had the contraceptive implant for 2 years, but I continuously had the side effect of vaginal bleeding. I went to the doctor and he told me to take oral contraception aswell as having the implant. The bleeding stopped for months, but in the past week has come back very heavy. Is this a problem with the contraception? Should I get it changed?
