I am worried that I may experience complications during pending weight loss (gastric band) surgery; I am concerned that I have an enlarged or fatty liver due to alcohol consumption. Whilst I do not have any sign of liver disease in terms of symptoms, and have reduced my alcohol intake considerably, I am concerned that there still may be some liver damage due to my very heavy alcohol intake over a period of years.I am young (female) (early 30 s), with a bmi under 35 (but over 30). I also fortunately do not have weight related health issues such as diabetes or hypertension, or in fact any other health issues. However I aware of the effects on the body that prolonged/excessive alcohol abuse can cause. My gastric band surgery may take place in a matter of weeks and I am about to start my low calorie diet as advised by the surgeon/clinic to reduce the size of my liver that all patients par-take. I have also recently completely stopped all alcohol in preparation for my surgery, and new healthier lifestyle. However Will this be enough? Will my liver be shrunk enough for a successful gastric band procedure? I know its impossible for you to know the exact condition of my liver/internal organs, but would very much appreciate an informed, experienced (speculative) opinion, or knowledgeable feedback, based on the information I have given.Thank you,Thanks
